Respond! is Ireland's largest not for profit Housing Association. We seek to create a positive future for people by alleviating poverty and creating vibrant, socially integrated communities. We do this through providing access to education, childcare, community development programmes, housing and other supports. We provide housing to families, lone parents, single persons. older persons and people with special needs. We have a well established education centre from which we deliver certificate, diploma and degree courses in conjunction with University College Dublin, NUI Maynooth, and The Chartered Institute of Housing. In 2010 we are extending our suite of courses to include a FETAC accredited level 5 certificate in Health Care. This will be delivered in Oranmore, Co. Galway commencing in March 2010 and finishing in December 2010. The aim of this course is to support the professional development of health care workers in a range of settings including community care, residential homes and hospitals. Tutors delivering this programme are registered general nurses who also hold a professional qualification in Adult and Community Education and who have many years teaching experience.
The modules that will be delivered are:
Care of the older person
Activities of living patient care (this module includes up-skilling in recording fluid balance, blood pressure, pulse, weight etc)
Care skills
Care support
Communications
Safety and health at work
Social studies. As Respond! is a not for profit organisation, we are offering this programme at a competitive rate of €1,250 per student (we also offer a 20% discount for second and subsequent bookings from the same organisation). This cost includes certification in CPR recognised by the Irish Heart Foundation.
